FIDOR Scripture (Week 1)

FIDOR Scripture (Week 1)
I can’t do this by myself!
Exodus 3, 4:1-14 & Psalms 27
Read
This is a slow, reflective reading, reading with a longing to be touched, healed and transformed by the word of God. It is not a hurried reading. Pause between phrases and sentences. Read with a vulnerable heart and expect to be blessed in the reading. Read until your heart is touched, until you feel stirring within you, and then stop.
Meditate
When your hear is touched, begin your meditation. Meditation is the process when you receive the word of God that has entered your heart. At this time simply repeat the word or phrase or sentence that has touched you until it sinks into your mind and your heart. Welcome it in and try to understand it. Ask yourself why is this a word for you? What in your life right now needs to hear this word? Wrestle with it. Ask it questions. Tell it stories about yourself. Allow it to nourish you. Receive its blessing.
Pray
Let your prayer spontaneously emerge from your encounter with the text. How does this word move you to pray for yourself, for others? Express to God any thought, feelings, longings, or worship that the word inspires in you. Ask of God the fruit of the treasure you have found. Pray as the one whose hear has been touched. The Word of God comes to you as life. Prayer is tasting life, responding to life.
Rest
Ask yourself, what is one way how I will live the message that God has given me through this passage this week? This is also the moment when you should take time to rest and relax before God. In the end, our mind wants answers but our heart craves rest. Both need to be attended to in out prayer. Fall into the hands of the living God with complete surrender. Simply be with God. If this part of the process seems difficult, read the Psalm 131 and imagine yourself in the words of this psalm, resting with God.
